SYRIA, Coele-Syria. Chalcis ad Libanum. Cleopatra VII. 51-30 BC. Æ 18mm (4.54 g, 12h). Dated RY 21 (Egyptian) and 6 (Phoenician) of Cleopatra (32/1 BC). Diademed and draped bust right / Nike advancing right, holding palm; all within wreath. RPC 4772.6 (this coin); Rouvier 438 (Berytos); Svoronos 1888; SNG Copenhagen -. VF, green patina with some light deposits.

All of Cleopatra’s coinage from Chalcis is dated by her Egyptian and Phoenician regnal years (corresponding to 32/1 BC). While the larger denominations featured the portrait of Antony, smaller denominations, such as this and the following lot, were issued with Cleopatra’s portrait alone.
